Miami, Florida, October 7, 2026. Dominicans living in Florida who want to take the next step in their careers can now apply for one of the 150 scholarships offered by Broward International University (BIU University) and the Consulate General of the Dominican Republic in Miami. Those selected will be able to choose from 16 master’s programs in business, education, engineering, and technology, all leading to a U.S. degree. The launch follows a meeting between the Consul General of the Dominican Republic in Miami, Josefa Aquilina Castillo Rodríguez, and the BIU delegation led by its CEO, Dr. Guillermo Usechi, and the Provost, Dr. Olga Mar González de León, Ed.D. At that meeting, both institutions reviewed the scope of the agreement and agreed to also move forward with training programs for consular staff in innovation, digital transformation, and institutional strengthening.
For BIU, this partnership serves a clear purpose: to ensure that more Hispanic professionals in the United States can access quality education without cost being a barrier.
